Chris Loveday's story is not one of privilege or a traditional academic fast-track. He entered education as a leisure assistant working in a school gym — without formal qualifications, learning the ecosystem from the ground up. That formative experience became one of his greatest leadership advantages.
As he progressed into management and later senior leadership roles, Chris carried with him an intimate understanding of how decisions affect staff at every layer. Observing teaching practices as a senior leader drove him to pursue his degree, teaching qualifications, and later an MBA with Distinction. His credibility is built through lived accountability, not titles alone.
Today, as Vice Principal at a nationally Outstanding sixth form college, Chris spearheaded the largest rollout of Gemini AI in education worldwide. He led a full transition to Google Cloud Platform, co-designed bespoke AI agents with staff across departments, and built a sector-leading digital equity programme. At every stage, one guiding question remained central: "Just because we can, should we?"
Nationally, he shapes policy as a member of the DfE AI Advisory Board, chairs the AI in Education COO Panel, and presented at the international AIDUCATION 2026 conference in Bucharest. His core leadership philosophy is simple and unwavering:
